A Cautionary Note to Parents Interested in Montessori Schools
We not only welcome parents who are interested in learning more about our
school to observe a class in action, we highly recommend it. The Canadian
Council of Montessori Administrators constantly advertises that, "The name
Montessori is in the public domain and, as such, anyone can use it. The
Canadian Council of Montessori Administrators strongly urges parents to learn
what constitutes a Montessori education and visit schools. Just because the
word Montessori is in the school's name does not mean a Montessori education
is being offered." A Montessori education cannot be implemented as a series
of piecemeal reforms. It requires the use of Montessori materials, methods
and curriculum applied by teachers who are trained and certified through a
legitimate Montessori teacher education program.
