Build Outdoor Awareness in Your Child with Nature Education IN Orillia

Our preschool and elementary classrooms are in separate buildings. Both are spacious, sunlit rooms with large windows overlooking the shores of Lake Simcoe.

Outdoor Education Philosophy

There must be provision for the child to have contact with nature; to understand and appreciate the order, the harmony and the beauty in nature.
– Dr. Maria Montessori.

Dr. Montessori placed emphasis on nature education as a method of immersing students in a multi-level learning experience. At Bright Horizons Montessori School, we believe that the outdoor environment should be an extension of the classroom.

Access to Lush Park Surroundings

The school is located in Atherley on 62 acres of woodland and marshes. We take full advantage of our beautiful country setting. The children enjoy nature walks to observe many forms of wildlife, including blue heron, hummingbirds, woodpeckers, ducks, turtles, fish, beavers, raccoons and deer.

We value the time spent outside exploring nature and physical activity. Unless weather conditions are unpleasant, every morning, noon and afternoon the children go outside for fresh air, exercise and play.

Inspiring Young Minds Since 1988

We nurture each child into contributing members of our classroom and the greater society.
