Our preschool and elementary curriculums have been developing over the past 30 years. Since our students continuously reach new heights, challenges and changes, we constantly evolve the curriculums to suit their needs.
The Montessori Philosophy
Montessori education is rooted in the philosophy of Italian physician and educator, Dr. Maria Montessori. Dr. Montessori’s focused on the child as the center for their own education. With this, she created a learning environment with emphases on Practical Life skills, guided freedom and a respect for each child’s physical, social, and psychological development.
Montessori for Your Child
As parents and educators, we want to see children thrive socially and academically. We want their childhood experience to help build self-confidence and an awareness of limitless potential in their academic endeavours. Children have a natural sense of curiosity. The Montessori Method embraces the innate desire to learn by building an academic environment that encourages students to think confidently and independently.
Beginning with their experience in preschool through to their elementary school years, Bright Horizon Montessori School’s students are encouraged to think independently and explore the classroom for new activities. They pick up their favourite book. They finger paint. They learn to fold and organize clothes. Rather than be restricted to their desk like in a traditional classroom, our students are actively engaged in the process of learning.
